Yachting: Leaving the rat race behind

Spinnakers full, yachts competing in the Coastal Classic sail out of the Waitemata Harbour and around North Head yesterday morning on their way to Russell in the Bay of Islands.

Head winds for yachts sailing up the Northland coast were predicted to ease overnight and tend more westerly.

The leading yacht among the 247 entries passed Tutukaka, more than half-way to Russell, just after 1pm.
