The Falkland Islands have split the fleet in the fourth leg of the round-the-world yacht race from Auckland to Rio de Janeiro.
Illbruck lead the westerly pack of Tyco, News Corp and Assa Abloy around the west side of the islands, north of Cape Horn, while Amer Sports One lead djuice
on the eastern side.
Amer Sports One have gained three miles on illbruck.
Along with djuice, they have maintained slightly higher speeds.
This split decision has been caused by two of the weather models disagreeing.
One model indicated that the boats should stay on course, or even slightly higher and wait for a front to bring some running conditions.
The other showed that they should reach into the back of the old front and avoid the light spot between the two.
Amer Sports Too have less than 100 nautical miles to Cape Horn while SEB, who broke their mast last Thursday, are en route to Punta Arenas, on the Chilean coast.
SEB's crew have used the broken boom to fashion a jury rig.
They are travelling at 7 to 10 knots and are expected to reach Punta Arenas on Saturday.
From there, they will be lifted onto a cargo vessel and transported to Rio de Janeiro.
The rest of the fleet are expected to reach Rio on February 19.
