A towering Bulgarian has become the first European to rise to sumo's second-highest rank.
Kaloyan Stefanov Mahlyanov, 22, known as Kotooshu in the circular ring, has been promoted to "ozeki".
Kotooshu, the tallest grappler in the sport at 2.04 metres, whose ring name means "European harp", has become something of a sensation in Japan.
