"It's strange seeing yourself on the big screen but also rather exciting," Dixon said.
"(It's) a big milestone for me personally so I couldn't think of a better place to launch the teaser trailer than Indianapolis 500."
Dixon is one of the most prolific drivers in IndyCar history, claiming the Verizon IndyCar series four-times as well as winning the Indy 500 in 2008.
The documentary will cover Dixon's 2017 season as well as his spectacular crash in last year's Indy 500.
Taken out of the race on Lap 53 by Jay Howard, Dixon's car was launched into an airborne flip and landed on top of the inside wall - the Kiwi walked away uninjured.
"I hope it will give people a real insight not only into the cars and the drivers but the entire racing community and the huge amount of work that goes into making this all happen," Dixon said.
Directed by Bryn Evans and co-produced by Universal Pictures, Home Entertainment Content Group and GFC Films, the documentary will be released worldwide.
