"It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact," Rousey said in December.
While the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion felt the need to clarify that Holm had not broken her jaw, as was initially speculated, there was clear damage to her head after Holm's destructive blow.
UFC president Dana White later revealed that Rousey had severely damaged her lip.
The Riverside-born fighter is not expected to return to UFC until October or November 2016, an absence of nearly a year.
That is, in part, due to a busy schedule of movie appearances over the rest of the calendar year.
White has suggested that Rousey will face Miesha Tate, who won the Bantamweight crown from Holm in March, when she returns to the Octagon.
"I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title," said White after Tate won the title.
"That's what's going to happen. That's what I said before this fight even happened."
