UFC boss Dana White has admitted it might be time for CM Punk to hang up his gloves after the former WWE star's second-straight lopsided bout.
The former professional wrestler, who's real name is Phillip Brooks, shocked combat sports fans when it was announced he had signed a multi-fight contractwith the UFC in 2016.
After forging a strong career in the WWE, he was looking to follow in the footsteps of Brock Lesnar and take his talents into the octagon.
However, with no background in the professional mixed martial arts arena, CM Punk ( was quickly found out in his debut.
In his first appearance in the octagon, at UFC 203 in late 2016, Punk was submitted just 2min14sec into the first round by American Mickey Gall.
It took the 39-year-old CM Punk 638 days to step back inside the octagon for another bout, where by unanimous decision to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in his home town of Chicago.
Jackson, who also entered the bout with an 0-1 record after also losing his UFC debut against Gall, dominated the match but was unable to get the stoppage. While CM Punk forced the bout to go to the cards, there was no doubt that Jackson had it won.
The former WWE star was reportedly taken to hospital to receive treatment after the fight, with plenty of battle wounds showing on his face.
Speaking at the event, White said the loss was a telling sign of what the future held for CM Punk's UFC career.
"It probably should be a wrap," White said. "The guy is 39 years old. I love the guy. He's the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight in this fight. And I think he should call it a wrap."

CM Punk's welterweight bout against Jackson was part of the main card at the event, which was headlined by one of the fights of the year between middleweights Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.
The decision to have the welterweights on the main card came under scrutiny from UFC fans, with big heavyweight clash between Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem relegated to the preliminary card.
Those who only tuned in for the main card missed the performance of the night as a result, with Blaydes announcing himself as a title contender with a violent knock win over his opponent.
Blaydes now holds a four-bout win streak, which includes a unanimous decision victory against Mark Hunt.
