Whakatane District Council is fit, healthy and wants to take on other businesses and organisations in a $25,000 challenge.
The Sovereign Tri Series - seven events held at various locations around New Zealand - kicks off with the Duo Auckland on November 15. The enormously successful CEO Challenge will runas part of the series, awarding the company with the highest ratio of staff participation $25,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
Whakatane District Council (WDC) won the CEO Challenge in 2014, with an incredible 85 per cent of staff taking part in the Mt Maunganui Tri Tinman - and they are coming back for a second year. Council CEO Marty Grenfell is buoyant about the benefits to his organisation: "The ... Challenge was an immensely positive and unifying experience for the team. It brought together people from every work group, our governance team, family members and people from partner organisations.
"For many of us, the benefits have been life-changing: we're fitter, healthier, and a more cohesive team, and we've challenged and extended our boundaries."
From the Villa Maria vineyards to the stunning Wanaka waterfront, each of the events - five triathlons and two duathlons - is held in a unique location designed to showcase a beautiful part of New Zealand, A range of distance options means the events are accessible to anyone aged 11 or over, beginner to professional.
Companies stepping up to the CEO Challenge receive support, instruction, access to coaches and training plans to help them prepare for their event.
Sovereign CEO Symon Brewis-Weston is impressed by the high standard set by WDC in winning the challenge last year.
