Tony is joined the Herald's racing editor Mick Guerin to talk the NZ Football ineligibility debacle, Shaun Johnson's magical performance and whether Israel Dagg will make the World Cup squad.
NZ Football ineligibility debacle
Veitchy: You'd think they're absolutely screwed aren't they?
Mick: Forget the appeal, name whose fault this is. Surely the coach. Surely Anthony Hudson knew and therefore is has to carry the can. Get it over and done with.
Veitchy: You would imagine when they went through the little checklist that they would have said what do we need here...this to me is one of the great cock-ups if it costs New Zealand a place in the Olympic Games which at the moment we think it will.
Mick: Someone is responsible. Name them and make the story go away.
Warriors' magic
Veitchy:
Shaun Johnson at the moment...for the guy that has been criticized for being a pretty boy, for not performing out there on the field, he was a genius again.
Mick:
I thought Friend's trick shot was beautiful but Shaun Johnson's try later on was the best thing I've seen from the Warriors this year. He's the one guy New Zealand Rugby wish they could steal for the sevens in Rio.
Veitchy:
No Ryan Hoffman, no Manu Vatuvei, no Konrad Hurrell and they still got in done against a very good Storm side. They are back as contenders.
Mick:
They are always contenders. It's all about getting the job done.
Do the All Blacks play SBW and Dagg back into form?
Mick: If Dagg doesn't perform this week I don't think they can take him to the World Cup.
Veitchy: they have to keep playing him. Four test matches. That's it before the World Cup.
