Terenzo Bozzone has finished in sixth at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
The Kiwi has crossed the line in a time of eight hours, 13 minutes and six seconds - finishing 11 minutes and 36 seconds off winner Germany's Patrick Lange.
Lange has won the gruelling race in acourse record time of eight hours, one minute and 40 seconds.
Bozzone's fellow New Zealand Braden Currie crossed the line in 29th, 48 minutes down on Lange. Currie was in second on the bike, but two punctures saw him lose massive time, dropping down to 39th and ending his chances.
Bozzone's finish is the best by a New Zealander since 2008, when Cameron Brown finished in fifth.
Brown is the only New Zealand male to ever make the podium, achieving four top-three finishes, while Erin Baker is the only New Zealander to have won the world championship, claiming victory in 1987 and 1990.
