Venus scores career first

New Zealand tennis player Michael Venus has scored a good win in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel, Switzerland.

Venus teamed with Swede Robert Lindstedt to defeat Croatian Ivan Dodig who is ranked No.8 in the world and Serbian former world No.1 Nenad Zimonjic 7-6(3) 6-3.

It was the first career win at ATP 500 level for Venus.

Venus and Lindstedt will play third seeds Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and American Rajeev Ram in the quarter-finals.
