Jiri Vesely is the 2015 Heineken Open champion, beating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-2 in a one sided final today.
The Czech player becomes the first qualifier to win the Auckland event since Danny Saltz in 1984 and was good value for the win.
He was broken in the veryfirst game - just the third break he has conceded all week - but was dominant from them on. Vesely swept the first set in 36 minutes and had wrapped up the match just half an hour later.
The final never reached any great heights, with Mannarino unable to cope the raw power of the Czech player. The 26-year-old Frenchman also chose the wrong day to have his worst game of the week, making a string of unforced errors on big points.
For the first time this week Vesely showed a hint of nerves early on. He was broken in the first game - including a double fault - as Mannarino made the best possible start.
But it didn't last long, as the Czech broke back three games later, summoning the familiar guttural roar that we have seen all week.
Games went with serve until the Frenchmen stepped to the line at 3-4. After complaining yesterday that a double fault is his 'special shot', Mannarino did just that as the 21-year-old Vesely secured a vital break.
In the blink of an eye the set was gone, with the Czech qualifier serving a 223km/h ace to take the set in 36 minutes.
