KEY POINTS:

North Harbour's Karen Li has won the women's singles title for the seventh time at the national table tennis championships played at Hutt Valley.

In the final, Li, 31, beat Jung Mi Kim of Canterbury in five games after dropping the first game 10-12.

She then came back
with some powerful play to win the next four sets 11-4 11-7 11-4 11-3.

Li also took out the mixed doubles title, combining with Brad Chen to beat Kim and Jong Eub Han in five games.

Wei Zhong Jiang of Auckland won his first national title when he beat Canterbury's Jon Eub Han 11-5 11-7 6-11 11-7 11-5 in the final of the men's singles.

Last year's men's singles champion Shane Laugesen made up for his semifinal exit when he won the men's doubles title with Lui Chao.

The Auckland combination beat Wellington's Julian Wootton and Wayne Gear.

The women's double title went to Canterbury's Sun Yan and Jenny Hung who beat Sophie Shu from Auckland and Sarah Ho of Waikato in the final.
