Tennis: Rain delays play

Rain has prevented play starting on time at 11am at the ASB Classic today.

When play does get underway qualifier Shahra Peer will battle Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik first up in the quarter-finals.

That will be followed by another qualifer Janette Husarova who is up against fourth seed Shinobu Asagoe.

The feature match pits second seed Jelena Jankovic against fifth seed Marion Bartoli, however, Bartoli has a shoulder injury and only gives herself a 50/50 chance of playing.

Tonight top seed Amy Frazier meets Russian Tatiana Panova, weather permitting.

There was not due to be any play before 2.30pm.
