NEW YORK - Tennis player Anna Kournikova is being sued by her parents over a luxury waterfront property in Florida which they jointly own.
The 22-year-old star is being sued by mother Alla and father Sergei who want to legally "partition" the US$2.8 million ($4.5 million) Miami Beach mansion.
According to legalpapers filed in the Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Kournikova and her parents each have "a one-third interest in the property".
The case, listed as Kournikova v Kournikova, will go before a Miami judge.
Lawyers Howard Rudolph and David Leacock, for the parents, will ask the judge to grant a ruling which legally splits the property between the three.
The tennis player and her parents bought the seven-bedroom home on Miami Beach's Sunset Island in 2000.
Rudolph claimed Anna Kournikova was "taking the position that this is her house". But her parents, who handled her management and promotion, insisted the property was shared, and wanted to guarantee the future profits from any sale.
Kournikova has never won a major title during her tennis career, but has made a fortune from modelling and endorsements.
Doubts have been raised recently about her future on the tennis court, amid reports of a back injury.
Her agent, Phil de Picciotto, was quoted as saying last year that he "wouldn't put odds" on whether she would continue to play professionally.
