The New Zealand women's tennis team have suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the Fed Cup Asia Oceania tournament in Bangkok.
They have missed out on a chance to move into the world group, after being beaten 2-1 by Uzbekistan.
However, it was a near thing, with the
kiwi doubles combination of Marina Erakovic and Leanne Baker suffering a 7-9 defeat in a third set tiebreak.
Earlier, Sacha Jones was a three-set loser before Erakovic drew the tie level with a straight sets win.
