New Zealand face a daunting trip to Venezuela for the Davis World Group 1 tie in March next year.
The International Tennis Federation has made the draw overnight in London with captain Alistair Hunt and his team handed an away tie against the South Americans.
"It will be a greatopportunity for the players to experience something different and we relish the challenge." Hunt said.
The 12 winning nations from the World Group I Play-offs will compete in World Group I ties in September 2020 along with the losing nations from the Qualifiers which are also held in March.
If New Zealand loses to Venezuela they will compete in a World Group 2 tie next September.
