Wellington's Eden Marama put up a spirited performance against No 1 seed Sunitha Rao of the United States before exiting the Wimbledon girls' tennis singles today.
Rao won their third round clash 6-4 7-6(2).
It was the first time Marama, who is now based in Paris, has contested the grade A JuniorWimbledon and her performances should see her international junior ranking rise slightly from 26.
At the grade 2 Dutch Junior Open tournament in the Netherlands, New Zealand's Marina Erakovic has advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Kate Polunina, of Ukraine, 6-3 6-2.
