Tennis: Marcus Daniell through to final in Stockholm

New Zealand doubles player Marcus Daniell will chase his fourth ATP title and first with Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof at the Stockholm Open.

Daniell and Koolhof are through to the final of the ATP 250 tournament after a tight 7-6 (5) 7-6 (7) win over the French pair of Julien Benneteau and Lucas Pouille in 1 hour 43.

Daniell and Koolhof saved two set points in the first set and were helped by their opponents serving 8 double faults. Both pairs created numerous break points throughout the encounter with Daniell and Koolhof converting 2 of 10 and their opponents 2 of 8.

The third seeds will face the unseeded pair of Australian Luke Bambridge and Britain's Jonny O'Mara for the title. Daniell will be chasing his fourth ATP tour title and a win would see him improve his ranking from 50 to just outside the top 40.

After Stockholm, Daniell and Koolhof will finish their season at the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna where they have been drawn against the British pair of Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski in the first round.

Meanwhile Kiwi Artem Sitak and his Indian partner Divij Sharan have lost their semi-final at the ATP tournament in Antwerp in Belgium.

They've been beaten 7-5, 7-6 (3) by the French pair of Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Sitak and Sharan had a set point in the first set but couldn't convert. They will now head to the ATP 500 tournament in Basel in Switzerland where they have been drawn against Australian Matthew Ebden and Russian Daniil Medvedev in the first round.

Kiwi number one Michael Venus fresh from celebrating the birth of his first child with fiancée Sally, returns to tour with partner Raven Klaasen as they chase ranking points to try to qualify for the World Tour finals in London.

They are the top seeds in Basel and play the wildcard pair of Switzerland's Marc-Andrea Huesler and Dutchman Sam Verbeek in the first round.
