Leanne Baker has qualified for the US$50,000 tournament at Lawrenceville, Georgia beating American wildcard Whitney Byrd 6-2 6-0 and then American Mary Gamble 6-3 6-3. In the main draw she will play fellow qualifier Madison Brengle (US).
At the US$25,000 Port Pirie event in South Australia, both EllenBarry and Shona Lee were beaten in the final round of qualifying by higher ranked opponents, Barry to Georgie Stoop of Britain 6-1 6-4 and Lee to Claire De Gubernatis of France, 6-1 7-5.
At Sunderland, in the UK, Dan King-Turner has been beaten in the first round of the US$15,000 Futures main draw by Philipp Marx from Germany, 6-3 7-5.
