Tennis: India wrap up Davis Cup tie 3-2 against NZ

Davis Cup veteran Leander Paes carried India to a 3-2 victory in their Asia/Oceania group one tennis tie against New Zealand in Invercargill today.

Paes secured his third win of the tie when seeing off cup newcomer Simon Rea 3-6 7-5 6-3 6-2 in the second reverse singles match at Stadium Southland.

New Zealand had earlier given themselves a chance to cause a shock result when Mark Nielson won the opening reverse singles 6-4 6-3 6-1 over Vishal Punna.

India had beaten New Zealand 4-1 twice in the past two years.
