Tennis: Erakovic continues to move up

Marina Erakovic is right on track in her goal to make the tennis big time.

With a target of breaking inside the world's top 200 in the rankings this year, the 17-year-old Aucklander has made a bright start.

Her ranking will move inside the top 500 next week after a series of good performances in Australia.

Coach Chris Lewis says the outlook is good.

The plan was to see her move through the lower level tournaments quite quickly, but Lewis did not expect her to move through so fast. He says she is taking it 'one step at a time'.

Erakovic plays one more Futures tournament in Australia this week before heading home to prepare for New Zealand's Fed Cup campaign next month.

She will then play slightly bigger tournaments in Japan and China before junior Wimbledon.
