Marina Erakovic has eased into the second round of the AEGON Classic in Birmingham following a straight sets win this morning.
The world number 71 thrashed Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 6-0, 6-1 in her opening round clash at the $US220,000 pre-Wimbledon event.
She will face world number 22 Ekaterina Makarova, the
tournament's second seed, in the second round after the Russian earned a bye in the opening round.
Erakovic lost to Makarova in the third round of the grass court tournament last year.
Erakovic will open her doubles campaign with partner Cara Black tomorrow against American Lisa Raymond and Briton Laura Robson.
