Caroline Wozniacki was virtually ignored by waiting media as she arrived at Auckland Airport on Friday morning, which was an indication of the star power of Serena Williams.
The two tennis stars, who are close friends off the court, arrived together at around 6:30am this morning on a direct flightfrom Houston.
But as they emerged into the arrivals area, the large media contingent all made a beeline for Williams, with not a single question for the former World No1 Wozniacki.
It must have been a strange feeling for Wozniacki. She was the best player in the world in 2011 and 2012, has won 25 WTA tournaments and reached two Grand Slam finals.
Wozniacki was the third highest earning female athlete in 2015 and has a huge profile outside the sport.
She has done photoshoots for a range of fashion magazines, as well as being one of the featured models in Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
In any other situation her arrival in Auckland would be big news, but she was completely overshadowed by the presence of Williams for the 2017 ASB Classic.
After they passed through the airport, the two players got into separate cars before heading off to their central city accommodation.
