Couple win best seats - apartment perched above all the action

Lucky Michael Jenks can't wait to spend a week holed up in the ultimate man cave.

The 26-year-old Aucklander has been picked from 19,000 competition entrants to spend a week in a specially constructed apartment overlooking the centre court at the 2014 Heineken Open.

Jenks and partner Amber Thoresen will have the run of the exclusive two-bedroom pad, perched on the roof of the ASB Tennis Arena, Auckland, from January 6-11.

Jenks is allowed up to eight other guests to view the action from his private balcony.

His phone has been ringing off the hook with mates angling for an invite.

"I have had calls from people I haven't spoken to in years," Jenks, from Takapuna, said. "I had no idea I was so popular."

The 14m x 6m temporary apartment has a fully stocked bar in the living room, as well as all the mod cons, a 24-hour private concierge and upmarket catering on tap.

Jenks and his girlfriend also get access to a gym, pool and spa plus tickets to the Heineken Open Baseline Afterparty.

Stars competing at the tournament include world No3 David Ferrer, German ace Tommy Haas, American hotshot John Isner and Spaniard Tommy Robredo.

"This is going to be fantastic and what a start it will be to the New Year," Jenks added.

"I will be living every Kiwi bloke's dream."
