Temperamental Russian Dinara Safina may have been the one considered mentally softer heading into last night's Australian Open final but Serena Williams says she has her issues, too.
Williams on Friday claimed she had an obsessive compulsive disorder - but one which the American felt helped her.
"I
get really angry and I'm a perfectionist. I have a slight case of OCD," Williams said. "Yeah, those are my issues. It's definitely self-diagnosed. But I think I can pick it out ... maybe."
The nine-time grand slam champion said she didn't feel any great need to fight her OCD.
"I think it's good to have it," she said. "I mean, you have a lot of order in your life. I like order. I'm not necessarily the neatest person in the world, but I do like to have order.
"I'm obsessed with my nails, too. I have to do them like every day. That's another OCD thing I have."
Williams can also relate to Safina, saying she idolised her older brother Marat, the 2005 Open men's
champion, while growing up.
"I idolised Marat, too," Williams said ahead of the pair's showdown for the world No 1 ranking. "I can totally understand."
