Big guns: Rafa Nadal, Robin Soderling, Andy Murray and Jo Wilfried Tsonga are among the top male contenders in action today. On the women's side world number two Vera Zvonareva has something to prove after a shaky start to the tournament while Kim Clijsters looks to continue her strong run against French outsider (and regular Auckland visitor) Alize Cornet.

Green and gold: Sam Stosur has a tough but winnable match against Czech 25th seed Petra Kitova, who has won their only previous encounter. Australian wildcard Bernard Tomic has been talking tough, but surely the 18-year-old world number 199 will be helpless, though not hapless against the red-hot Nadal.

Don't miss: Murray's match against underrated Spanaird Guillermo Garcia-Lopez should be a beauty and one of the closest ones of the day. And the battle of the big servers - John Isner vs Marin Cilic should be entertaining out on Margaret court.

Leave a light on: Tomic vs Nadal could go close to midnight (NZT). At the same time on Hisense Arena Wayne Arthurs and Pat Cash are reprising their glory days against fellow old boys Henri Leconte and Pat Rafter.
