Tennis: Success for NZ junior at Australian Open

New Zealand junior tennis player Eden Marama won her second-round singles match in straight sets at the Australian Open junior championship in Melbourne today.

Marama, the 14th seed who resides in France but will play in the Wellington International next week, defeated Australian Sophie Ferguson 6-3, 6-4.

The 16-year-old is likely to have a tougher match in the third round where she will play the winner of the match between seventh-seed Katerina Bohmova, of the Czech Republic, and Romanian Madalina Gojnea.
