Mark Nielsen has advanced to the quarterfinals in the Jui Ding Cup tennis tournament in China after winning his first two rounds.
In the $US15,000 ($NZ32,341) Men's Futures event Neilsen, who has a current ATP ranking of 274, has been named the top seed.
In the first round Nielsen played qualifier Korean
Dong-Whee Choi and after winning the first set in a tiebreak he took the second easily to secure the match 7-6 6-1.
In the second round Nielsen met Ai-Min Zhang of China winning easily 6-2 6-2.
He will now face Indonesian qualifier Prima Simpatiaji in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Wellington's Robbie Cheyne has qualified for the main draw of the $US10,000 Futures event in Trnava, Slovakia, after winning his way through three rounds of qualifying.
In the final round he defeated Romanian Adrian Gavrila 7-5 6-4 and will play the Slovakian eighth seed Juraj Hasko in the first round of the main draw.
