"We've had straight forward conversations with those guys," Hunt said.
"They are really proud New Zealanders and have a proud record of long services in Davis Cup and we are keen to continue with the sort of performance that we saw in Auckland against the Koreans. It's a tough task against a strong team but the new format will suit us."
Zonal ties have been reduced to best of three sets from best of five and are now played over two days with two singles matches on Friday before the doubles and two singles matches on Saturday.
Hunt said the 17-year-old Sisam is rewarded with the fifth place in the squad based on his performances in December, where he made the final of the New Zealand Championships.
'We think he has some really good personal qualities and a really strong work ethic and we like to think he will continue to improve and grow in 2018 and we think this could be a positive experience for him." Hunt said.
New Fed Cup captain Neil Carter has the services of 19-year-old Jade Lewis for the first time while Erin Routliffe returns for the Asia/Oceania Group Two campaign in Bahrain from the 6th to 10th of February. Two teams from the tournament are promoted to Asia Oceania Group One for 2019.
Carter has also named 24-year-old Katherine Westbury in the side for the first time while Emily Fanning returns from playing college tennis at the University of Kentucky.
Unfortunately, Paige Hourigan's US College (Georgia Tech) wouldn't release her for the tournament while Sydney-based Valentina Ivanov declared herself unavailable. Kiwi number one Marina Erakovic is injured.
Carter is upbeat about the team's chances.
"From 1-4 I have a really strong team that I believe can win the tournament and get promoted. That is the goal." Carter said.
"Uzbekistan has a strong team and will be favourites but our players are talented enough to compete against everyone at the tournament. It's disappointing Paige (Hourigan) and Valentina (Ivanov) aren't available, but it shows we are creating some depth, being able to field a strong team with the four players we have."
Tennis NZ High Performance Manager Simon Rea says it's a strong squad that has a real chance of earning promotion.
"I am really pleased Jade has made herself available, Erin contributed strongly last year and gets another opportunity to build on that and we welcome Emily back who is based at the University of Kentucky, so it's a tremendous opportunity for the team," Rea said.
Rea is disappointed for Hourigan but understands her situation.
"She was desperate to play but we couldn't get a release from her collegiate coach at Georgia Tech. We tried desperately hard, but it didn't work at that time of year and unfortunately they have the final call."
Regarding the unavailability of promising junior Ivanov, Rea remains hopeful she will commit to the Fed Cup team in the future.
"Hopefully in 2019 as we've seen with Jade this year, she circles around and makes herself available to play for New Zealand.
