Where's the money going?

TAB bookies share where the money's going in the feature event of the weekend, the Powerworx Opunake Cup at New Plymouth.

In the early betting, the weight of money has been on the three Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained runners in the field.

New York Minute, who was posted a warm $3.40 favourite on the back of two impressive wins recently, one of which came in last month's Listed Tauranga Classic, has been the best backed.

The five-year-old mare's stablemates, Tomelilla ($9.20) and Deals In Heels ($6.50), are the next best supported in the market with the latter desperate for a win after placing in all five runs this campaign.

There has also been some support for two up-and-comers in the field, Sleeping Beauty and William Wallace.

The bookies point out three runners that caught their attention when doing the form for Saturday.

3 Shellez Ace
New Plymouth Race the 3, Saturday

Resumed with a dominant win in the Open class. Drops a couple of grades on Saturday and with the apprentice claim, looks well placed for a horse that will measure up to black-type this preparation.

5 The Kipling Girl
Te Rapa Race 5, Saturday

We've been waiting for this day when the daughter of High Chaparral lines up over a staying trip. The Scott Wenn-trained five-year-old looks very well placed with the minimum weight allocation and performs well on the Te Rapa course.

3 Verry Flash
Te Rapa Race 6, Saturday

One of the most promising winter gallopers in the North Island. The three-year-old has won two of his last three and steps up to a higher grade on Saturday, but early ratings suggest he is up to future black-type assignments.
