Swimming: New NZ coach was suspended in Britain

Swimming New Zealand's newly appointed director of coaching, Clive Rushton, was suspended two years ago by Britain's Amateur Swimming Association after an audit of expenses.

Rushton, senior British coach at the time, and director of swimming Mike Peyrebrune were suspended on full pay.

A month later, Peyrebrune was dismissed for gross misconduct. Rushton was given a final warning, also for misconduct.

Both cases related to issues over expenses, said British officials. Rushton did not have his contract renewed last year because of restructuring.

His final warning was not a factor in the non-renewal, said an official.

Rushton starts a two-year term this month. He will be based in Wellington.
