Swimming: Kent swims to third in medley

Top-ranked New Zealand swimmer Dean Kent claimed third place on the final night of the Mare Nostrum meet in Rome.

The North Shore swimmer followed up his fifth placing in the 200m individual medley with a strong third in the 400m medley.

Kent clocked 4m 24.89s to finish third behind Italy's Alessio Boggiatto in 4m 18.63s and Australia's Grant McKenzie in 4m 23.20s.

McKenzie is likely to be the main threat to Kent for honours in next year's Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
