Lauren Boyle has broken New Zealand's medal drought at the Pan Pacific Swimming Champs on the Gold Coast.
Boyle has claimed silver in the 800 metres freestyle final, finishing seven and a half seconds behind American teenager Katie Ledecky.
It's just New Zealand's second medal at the Pan Pacs in
the last 17 years.
Boyle said it was her best race of the year.
Matthew Stanley has finished seventh in the 200 freestyle final.
