Surfing: Andy Irons returning to Piha

Former three times world surfing champion Andy Irons is returning to New Zealand next month.

Irons and his brother Bruce have signed on for the annual Vodafone surf sessions at Piha.

Australian world top 10 surfers Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning are also competing.

New Zealand's top surfer Maz Quinn, his brother Jay, Daniel Kereopa, Bobby Hansen are among the New Zealanders competing.

Maz Quinn says it is great news for the sport here again, especially sealing the participation of Andy Irons.

Quinn says they are all talented surfers, especially Irons as a world champion, although the home surfers competing will give the visitors a good crack.

The surf sessions are held at Piha on Labour weekend.
