A Mexican sports reporter furiously hit a fan with her microphone after he groped her live on air.

Maria Fernanda Mora was reporting from outside the Guadalajara stadium when a group of fans gathered behind her.

Mora was interviewing the group of rowdy supporters before one of the men allegedly grabbed the female reporter from behind.

Mora furiously turned around to hit the fan multiple times with her microphone while his friends stood in shock.

Defending her response, Mora said what happened to her was something that many women dealt with every day.

"What happened to me at dawn on Thursday, happens to thousands of women every day in public spaces.," she said.

"The difference is that it happened to me during a live link on television and I decided to defend myself."

"My reaction is what turned the fact into something viral."
