A father was killed protecting his family from an errant hammer throw during an athletics meet in Colorado over the weekend.
The tragic incident occurred at a high school track and field meet at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
According to KRDO news outlet, a hammer throw attempt went
outside the protective barrier and into the audience.
Local police said the spectator was killed while protecting his wife and son.
The man who died, named by El Paso County Coroner’s office as Wade Langston, 57, was the father of a competitor.
