New Zealand will be represented at this year's world softball championships in Venezuela thanks to player dedication. It looked as if New Zealand would have to withdraw from the tournament when the International Softball Federation switched the championship venue from Oklahoma City in the United States to Caracas in Venezuela, potentially adding an extra $100,000 to the White Sox's travel costs. However, the combination of the player dedication and being able to source some cheaper airfares has meant the side will be going, with the players contributing little more than they would have for Oklahoma.
