Softball New Zealand (SNZ) will conduct a review of the sport following the Black Sox' third consecutive world championship title in Christchurch earlier this year.
The review board will also be looking at how softball can capitalise on success on the world stage.
Since the victory in February, squad members have completed
evaluations and all management and coaching staff have compiled reports that will be presented to a review panel ahead of a full debrief in Wellington at the end of this month.
"New Zealand Softball are keen to learn from the success of the Black Sox and ensure that those lessons are carried through to all levels of the sport," SNZ chief executive Hadyn Smith said.
"A review automatically follows all world championship campaigns and is aimed at ensuring best practice is applied in all our other campaigns and that flawed issues are not repeated in the future."
The world title had given softball's profile a big boost and Smith wanted that to continue.
" We need to capitalise on that if we are to keep moving the sport forward."
All findings from the review will be presented to the New Zealand Softball board next month and the position of Black Sox head coach will subsequently be advertised.
Don Tricker, who coached the team to the title in February, and also in 2000, stepped down after the tournament.
