Soccer: Player pays price

Chilean soccer player Rodrigo Riep has been banned for four matches after tearing up a referee's yellow card.

Riep was given a three-match suspension for tearing up the card and one more for insulting the referee's assistant during the second division game against Antofagasta.

A Chilean league statement said the player blamed "his nervousness and the helplessness he felt in the face of an injustice."

Riep was sent off for the incident.
