Soccer: Ngata signs with Kingz for a year

Former Football Kingz captain Harry Ngata yesterday signed a one-year contract with the club.

He and Paul Dempsey are the latest to sign with the Auckland-based franchise. Club chief executive Chris Turner expects striker Paul Urlovic and midfielder Raf de Gregorio to sign in the next day or so.

The Kingz play Metro at Alby Turner Field tonight and Waitakere City at Fred Taylor Park on Sunday. Coach Ken Dugdale is expected to name a squad to play a Nigerian under-19 side in Wellington next week.

Turner said discussions with goalkeeper Michael Utting are "on-going". Turner said planned matches with Northern Spirit in Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin had yet to be confirmed but discussions were continuing.
