Soccer: Liverpool goalie's error keeps Bolton on top

Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld let a tame shot from substitute Dean Holdsworth slip through his fingers as Bolton Wanderers enjoyed a last-gasp 2-1 win to return to the top of the English premier soccer league yesterday.

Liverpool's England striker Emile Heskey had scored within three minutes of coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute to cancel Bolton's 26th-minute opener from Michael Ricketts.

But with two minutes remaining, Holdsworth's 25m shot bounced in front of Dutchman Westerveld, under his body and into the net.

Bolton, on their return to the top flight this season, have won their opening three league matches and head the standings by two points from Everton and Leeds United.
