Soccer: Junior soccer stalwart dies

A long-time servant of Auckland and New Zealand junior soccer, Eric Dimmock, has died in Auckland, aged 79.

Dimmock joined the junior management committee of the Auckland Football Association in 1947 and gave 40 years' unbroken service to the game, including time with the New Zealand JFA.

Much of his time was spent as junior fixtures and grounds/cancellation officer in Auckland.

A blunt, no-nonsense type, Dimmock was also a junior referee, representative selector and tournament organiser.
