New Zealand snowboarder Christy Prior has won an X Games silver medal in the Big Air event in Oslo, Norway.
The competition took place on a scaffolding jump constructed for the event. Competitors had three attempts to earn their highest score and Prior, from Kaukapakapa, landed a frontside rodeo 720
to record 84.00 points. Netherlands snowboarder Cheryl Maas won, with Kjersti Oestgaard Buass of Norway third.
Meanwhile, Wanaka skier Anna Smoothy has won the latest event on the Freeride World Qualifier Tour in Jasna, Slovakia.
Smoothy put together a smooth, fluid run to nab the win. Snowboarder Maria Kuzma finished second in her discipline in icy conditions.
The qualifier is a feeder to the World Tour, with points accumulated at 60 events around the world. The score system is based on the star ranking of the qualifying events, and Jasna was a four-star, which is good news for Smoothy.
