New Zealand skier Jossi Wells has crashed out on the first day of competition at the X Grames in Aspen, Colorado.
The 16-year-old Cadrona skier, the first New Zealander to be invited to winter sport's richest and highest-profile event, has a suspected broken collarbone after crashing out inthe second elimination run of the superpipe competition.
Wells' downfall was an ally oop flatspin 540.
New Zealand officials are awaiting information from Wells - last year's New Zealand Snowsports Person of the Year - after further medical examinations in Aspen.
Wells finished 15th, with the top 10 advancing to tomorrow's finals, headed by former X Games winner Simon Dumont and fellow American Tanner Hall.
