More gear failure on Team New Zealand has seen the black boat lose another race in the pre-America's Cup regatta off Malmo, Sweden.
NZL 82 suffered a 24 second loss to Oracle, after gear damage late in the race.
Team NZ led the American syndicate by 16 seconds at thefirst mark and 10 seconds at the halfway stage.
But a broken jib sheet nearing the top mark the second time ended any chance of winning.
Earlier NZL 82 had crushed Sweden's Victory Challenge by two minutes and five seconds.
Team New Zealand is now third overall in the regatta, behind Alinghi and Oracle. America's Cup holder Alinghi, who race Team New Zealand tomorrow, lead on 10 points.
