Conner picks up first win of Round Robin 2

Dennis Conner's Stars & Stripes achieved a much needed win in today's first flight of Louis Vuitton Cup competition, crossing the line 1min 12sec in front of the winless French team Le Defi Areva.

But in the building breeze, that started around 12 knots and reached 18 knots by the end of the first set of today's races at 12.20pm, Le Defi pushed the New York Yacht Club entry hard.

The French were just 12sec behind at the first mark, and 13sec at the second.

It was the first win of Round Robin 2 for Team Dennis Conner.

Le Defi Areva suffered damage and have been granted a postponement of their flight seven afternoon race against Oracle.
