A day after Team New Zealand's win over Alinghi in race two and the America's Cup port is back to being as dead as a door nail.

Being a lay day the wool shed is completely empty, not a red sock, flag or kiwi in sight.

Race three tonight (Tuesday NZT) is going to important for both teams. The weather forecast is for 8-10 knot winds.

Team New Zealand and Alinghi were planning to spend the day analysing their own performances and each others.

Neither was intending to go sailing.

We forget to mention yesterday how nice it was of Ray Davies and Team New Zealand to acknowledge the end Brad Butterworth and the Kiwis on Alinghi's 16-match America's Cup winning streak.

A nice gesture or a little bit of knife twisting? We'll let you decide.

It was also nice to see former Team New Zealand designer Laurie Davidson and Bruno Trouble inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame.

Among his many achievements Davidson designed Team New Zealand's cup winners NZL32 and NZL38 and NZL57 and NZL60.

Trouble is the mastermind behind the Louis Vuitton Cup and is one of the sport's truly great characters.

Their recognition was well deserved.
