UK press: All Blacks will be nervous

The English press are talking up the triumphant England rugby team, with claims that the world champion All Blacks will be nervous at their rapid improvement.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Sir Clive Woodward claims that the All Blacks will be keeping an eye on the impressive English after their 23-7 series-sealing win over Australia.

"Even New Zealand will be looking over the Tasman Sea this morning and wondering what is going on with because deep down every nation in the world is a little fearful of England getting their act together."

England coach Eddie Jones has been hailed for the victory, called a peerless coach by Steve James in the Telegraph.

"The man is clearly a miracle worker. England have gone from embarrassing flops at their own Rugby World Cup to winning eight Tests on the trot."

Jones also provided a link to the All Blacks, saying they are the team they want to firstly model, then eclipse.

"We want to be the best team in the world and we want to win the series 3-0," said Jones.

"If the All Blacks were in this situation now, what would they be thinking? They'd be thinking 3-0. If we want to be the best team in the world, we have to think 3-0. Being second in the rankings doesn't feel good because we want to be first."

Mail on Sunday writer Sam Peters says England are now serious global players, with their Australian victory bringing back memories of the 2003 15-13 victory in New Zealand - the last time the All Blacks were defeated at Westpac Stadium.

"The transformation from World Cup no-hopers - when they finished the tournament ranked eighth in the world - to serious global players has been as rapid as it has been astonishing. England's victory in Melbourne had shades of 2003 New Zealand win," said Peters.

Could this be a World Cup winning team in the making? Eddie Butler posed the question in the Guardian, writing that "There's a long way to go to Japan in 2019 - so long that peaking too early must be about the only worry they have - but this has been a remarkable transformation and they show no signs of slowing down."

England have a chance to clinch a 3-0 whitewash next weekend when they clash at Allianz Stadium.
