Welsh rugby club Cardiff Blues are resigned to losing Jonah Lomu at the end of the season.
The All Black great, who moved to the Arms Park on a short-term loan contract just before Christmas, has six games left with the Blues this season.
Lomu, 30, is still under full-time contract with North Harbour.
Stricken by a debilitating kidney disease, he has always aimed to regain a place in the All Blacks after receiving a new kidney two years ago.
When he leaves Wales, he will head home straight into the national provincial championship where he will play for North Harbour.
"Jonah has made it quite clear that his reason for coming was to play rugby," Cardiff coach Dai Young told the Western Mail newspaper.
"He wanted to get back to where he wanted to be as a player.
"He has a contract with North Harbour. He has to go back to play in New Zealand's NPC.
"From there, he has made it quite clear he wants to play for a Super 14 contract.
"That is his plan and I cannot see him changing that. He hasn't given us any indication that he wants to stay."
