Rugby: Slade signs with Highlanders

Canterbury first five Colin Slade has decided to move out from behind Daniel Carter's shadow for next year's Super 15.

Slade has signed to play for the Highlanders under new coach Jamie Joseph.

He says playing for the Highlanders will propel him in the right direction and provide the best chance for him to make the World Cup squad.

It is coach Jamie Joseph's first major signing. He says he has been impressed with Slade's qualities as a player.
